Ruth Teitelbaum is an independent arbitrator with over twenty-five years of experience in international arbitration and international law. She is a panelist with the American Arbitration Association (AAA), the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the Centro de Arbitraje de México, the Centro de Conciliación y Arbitraje de Panamá (CeCAP), and the Court of Arbitration for Art of the Netherlands. She is also certified as a CEDR mediator. Ruth’s experience spans arbitrations conducted under all major institutional rules, including the ICSID, ICC, LCIA and UNCITRAL Rules. The disputes have involved foreign investment laws and procurement laws in Latin America and Africa, international treaty law, mining law, hydrocarbons law, EU law, sale of goods, M&A disputes, cultural heritage law, and New York commercial law, including insurance and guarantees.

Ruth’s cumulative experience as arbitrator, litigation funder, counsel and tribunal lawyer encompasses the following sectors: energy, oil and gas, mining, telecommunications, construction, renewable energy, geothermal energy, real estate, textiles, manufacturing, technology licensing and insurance. Ruth served as Reporter for the ICCA-ASIL Task Force on Issue Conflict in International Arbitration and served on the editorial board of Arbitration International for over fifteen years. Ruth’s academic publications are featured in journals and books including the American Journal of International Law, the Berkeley Journal of International, Arbitration International, Small States and International Law, International Arbitration in Practice and the ICCA Congress Series. Her scholarship addresses a broad range of issues including evidentiary challenges in international disputes, regulatory issues in energy disputes, most favored nation treatment, taxation, transparency, ethics, damages, enforcement, litigation finance, sanctions and sovereign debt.
